Meet your Sports Dietitian

Hi, I’m Callie

A woman with a smiling expression, wearing an orange mesh baseball cap backwards, a blue sports bra, black athletic shorts, a black wristwatch, standing against a white brick wall with crossed arms.

After hanging up my college soccer cleats, I found my way to running, lifting, and spending every weekend I could outside. I have completed 13 half marathons across 11 states, logged more mountain miles than I can count, and fueling those adventures well is what has made all of it possible and keeps me showing up for more.

My nutrition career started where the stakes were as high as they get. I spent 7+ years working as a Performance Dietitian with US Special Operations Forces, supporting athletes whose performance and survival literally depended on how well they fueled and recovered. That environment pushed me well beyond basic sports nutrition into brain health, chronic gut issues, shift work, and environmental exposures, which is where integrative and functional nutrition became a permanent part of how I work.

I have never been about conventional medicine versus functional medicine, but a handshake between both worlds that makes each one stronger. And then my own health made that philosophy personal.

A group of climbers ascending a rocky mountain trail, with snow-covered peaks and clouds in the background.

A sports concussion, long COVID, and an endometriosis diagnosis put me on the other side of the equation. I know what it feels like to train hard, eat well, and still feel like your body is working against you. I know what it is like to sit in a doctor's office with labs that look fine on paper and still feel anything but. It is what made me a better clinician and a better coach.

I built Fueling Upward because of all of it. Whether you're lacing up for your first 50K, training for a Hyrox doubles event, or dealing with gut issues that have stolen the joy from your training, I've been there in some version of all of it, and it is exactly why I know how to help you navigate it.

My specialty areas include endurance fueling, gut health, sports injury recovery, sleep and hormone health, and environmental exposures. I'm on a mission to bridge the gap between athletes, healthcare providers, and the advanced world of performance nutrition. Fueling Upward is how I do that.
